HOUSE SPARROW Passer domesticus

A small 14cm (5.5 inch) high finch, introduced to the Falklands in 1919; locally common in Stanley. They have a varied diet, plant seed buds, insects, food scraps and animal feed.

House sparrows are restricted to Stanley and some settlements where they nests in roof or wall cavities and sometimes trees. They are dependent on human settlement for survival.
